If you’re like me and struggle with hormonal acne, one thing that bothers you is definitely the acne scars left behind after the pimple heals over. Or perhaps you are constantly exposed to the sun and developed dark spots over the years. Dark spots and acne scars are undeniably some of the hardest skin discoloration to remove. Clinique’s Even Better Clinical Radical Dark Spot Corrector + Interrupter promises to help solve this problem!
A first look at this serum, and I’ve quickly fallen in love with the colourful holographic packaging! This has got to be one of Clinique’s sleekest and most unique product packaging, hands down.
Dubbed as a “damage eraser”, this product claims to visibly correct blemish marks and discoloration on the skin while “interrupting” or inhibiting the appearance of dark spots. Sounds like a dream, no? The Clinique Even Better Clinical Radical Dark Spot Corrector + Interrupter uses patented CL302 Equalizer Technology and ingredients such as ascorbyl glucoside, glucosamine, yeast extract, salicylic acid, mulberry root extract, rice bran extract and licorie extract to brighten and tone skin. If you didn’t know, ascorbyl glucoside, which is commonly found in vitamin C, is a great brightening agent while salicylic acid helps to remove the upper layers of skin cells for more toned skin. The main ingredient though is UP302 which is known as a brightening molecule that is used in traditional Chinese medicine and is known for its antioxidant properties. The combination of these ingredients is what’s used to create this powerful brightening serum.
It sounds too good to be true and has quite a hefty price tag to boot – about RM382 for this 50ml bottle, and it comes in a smaller 30ml variance as well. I understand it’s because you get what you pay for. But, does this serum really work? Read on for my thoughts!
Once you remove the transparent cap on the bottle, you will be greeted with a tiny green pump nozzle that dispenses the product. This kind of pump nozzle are my fave because it’s more hygienic to me.
Since this is a serum, I was expecting something more liquid. But instead, the product dispensed is an off-white emulsion and has a very subtle vanilla scent that does not smell artificial at all. Do bear in mind that as per the instructions on the bottle, this amount shown (one full pump) is all you need to apply on your full face each time.
After it is spread out, what’s left is this smooth, almost matte texture that feels light and comfortable on the skin. As this is a brightening serum, daily sunscreen application is imperative before you put on your moisturiser and makeup.
According to the survey done by Clinique, one can expect to see a 39% reduction in dark spots and acne scars after 12 weeks. Well, since I’ve only been using this for 2 weeks, obviously the results isn’t going to be that obvious. However, you can see that twice daily application (once in the morning and once at night) of the Clinique Even Better Clinical Radical Dark Spot Corrector + Interrupter brightening serum has helped me to reduce my acne scars and redness. So far, I’m happy to report that there has been no new acne and dark spots growth too. I also like that while this is for brightening, it doesn’t dry out the skin due to the Interrupter cocktail complex of olive squalene, barley and wheat germ extract that hydrates and locks in moisture. I believe even people with sensitive skin will be able to use this product as it is non-intrusive and quite gentle. The key is consistency when using lightening products so I believe with prolonged use, we will be able to see better results!
Hope this review has been useful for you to decide if you wish to invest in this product!
